FreeMotion launches Ocean Yoga board for indoor training workouts

The flowing movements of paddle boarding, surfing and yoga have been infused into the new Ocean Yoga board indoor training experience from FreeMotion Fitness.

Combining elements of surfing, paddle boarding and yoga, the equipment consists of a modified paddle board resting on two, or one, balance balls, as well as a weighted paddle. The board is equivalent to a stand-up paddleboard about 65 inches long by 21 inches wide.

The instability of the Ocean Yoga board simulates the feeling of a board on the water. It promotes bilateral stabilisation throughout the entire body. The board is designed to force the user to use their mind to equally engage the right and left sides of their body throughout all planes of motion. This unique challenge is designed to increase caloric expenditure, mental engagement and combines the strength and flexibility benefits of yoga and surfing.

The PaddleFit workouts, created for Ocean Yoga by surfer Laird Hamilton, include strength, cardio and stretching programs available at different levels to accommodate different ability levels.

Yoga experts Briohny Smyth and Dice Iida-Klein created the yoga workouts for Ocean Yoga combining traditional yoga poses with dynamic, full-body stability training.

Pat McGinnis, president of FreeMotion Fitness said: "Ocean Yoga workouts are a fantastic opportunity for clubs, studios and trainers to connect with potential new members, particularly men."

The Ocean Yoga board from FreeMotion Fitness, is now available in the UK through Fitness Systems.
